Guinness Advert 1971

From October 6th, until November 20th 1971, shoppers will notice something different about Guinness cans, they will have special gold tops. This will be part of a campaign to persuade potential customers to take home canned Guinness.

During the period an adonised aluminium goblet is being given free by Guinness for every 12 gold coloured ting-pull tabs from Guinness cans. It was not essential for each customer to purchase all the 12 cans at once. All that is required is that the customer fill in the simple application form available at point of sale and post it with the appropriate number of gold tabs in order to receive the goblet.

As for retailers, apart from increased sales, there are more than 1,000 prizes to be won in a simple crossword competition details of which are on the back of the promotional showcards in a simple tear-off, pre-paid reply card form.

The first prize is £1,000; the second prize £500; third prize (ten of them) £50; plus 1,000 runners-up prizes of the latest Guinness Book of Records worth more than £1 each..

A total of over £3,000 worth of prizes will mean a one in 15 chance of winning for participating retailers.
