2009-2010 New Year Party at the Hielan Jessie.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Staff and owners of the Hielan Jessie Mr & Mrs Billy Gold for a wonderful Hogmanay party. My wife Pauline and I had a great night out.
As soon as my wife and I got out of the taxi we were greeted by Billy Gold in highland attire. Billy's wife Josephine poured us both Morgan Spice and coke on the house and sat us down next to the roaring coal fire, it was so cosy and welcoming as it was so cold outside with freezing fog and ice.
The Hielan Jessie has always been noted for not having a TV and Duke box of puggy machines, however in the background you could here scottish music playing to give a great atmosphere.
Snacks were placed on each table and afterwards Josie lay on Sandwich's crisps and cakes. Josie never stopped all night, she was rushing about making sure everyone had enough drinks and snacks and even entertained the guests with her lovely singing voice. Billy often calls here a Duracell battery! I was waiting to see her crash as the night went on but she never did, Josie went on and on and on. Great host....
Just before the bells everyone was given a glass of bubbly to celebrate the end of 2009 and to bring in the new year 2010. I cant thank Billy and Josie and the staff enough for a magic night. The guests were so friendly as well, we all had a sing song danced and partied all night.
I wish the Hielan Jessie all the success for 2010..... Cheers....
As I have said over and over again this is the Jewel in the Crown of East End Pubs.

UPDATE...
03/08/2013... A sad day, Josephine McCormack, Billy Gold's partner in the Hielan Jessie passed away today. Josephine was diagnosed with cancer.
Ten days later she passed away in Stobhill Hospice. She will be remembered for her bubbly personality, a lady that loved to sing country and western songs. Josephine had been spotted chanting in some of our city pubs. It wasn't long ago that Billy and Josephine welcomed my wife and I to their Hogmanay Party 2009-2010. Josephine then was the sole of the party. I will remember her as a kind, friendly and generous person. R.I.P.
End.
